New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Erie, PA- The New Hampshire Fisher Cats scored five runs in the top of the 10th inning to rally past the Erie SeaWolves, 7-2, Saturday night at Jerry Uht Park. Sergio Santos lined a two-run double, Rob Cosby followed with an RBI single and Chip Cannon capped the uprising with his ninth home run of the season, allowing Brandon League to earn his first Fisher Cats' victory since the 2004 Eastern League post-season.

New Hampshire (31-27) erased an early 1-0 deficit in the top of the second inning against SeaWolves' starter Jeff Gerbe when David Smith drove in Rob Cosby (4-for-5, 2 R, RBI) on a fielder's choice ground out. It appeared Erie (31-28) would turn an inning-ending double play, but second baseman Mike Holliman, thinking the force play was the third out, never threw the relay to the first base, allowing Smith to reach safely.

The Fisher Cats took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning against Gerbe when Smith (1-for-4, RBI, R, SB) singled, stole second base and scored on a Ryan Klosterman single.

Klosterman (2-for-4, RBI, R) started the 10th inning rally with a one-out bunt single off reliever Danny Zell (1-4), followed by a single from Manny Mayorson (3-for-5, 2B, R) that led to a pitching change.

Matt Rusch struck out Brian Bormaster, but yielded the Santos two-run double, the Cosby single to center and Cannon's home run over the right field wall, making it 7-2.

Cosby produced a season high four hits in five at-bats and is 7-for-14 with 9 RBI over his last three games.

League (1-0), in his fourth Major League rehabilitation appearance, struck out two batters over two shutout innings to record the victory. He walked one and did not allow a hit.

Starting pitcher Kurt Isenberg worked five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits. He walked three and struck out one.

By winning the first two games of the series, the Fisher Cats became the first team to win a series from the SeaWolves at Uht Park this season and also spoiled the night for the largest crowd to watch an Erie game this year (5,862).

New Hampshire looks for the three-game sweep and for a 5-5 road trip when right-hande Yusaku Iriki (0-3, 8.31) takes the mound against Erie left-hander Jon Connolly (2-3, 3.93) at 1:05pm Sunday afternoon. Radio coverage begins at 12:45pm with Mike Murphy on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network (610-AM, Manchester; 930-AM, Rochester; 1540-AM, Exeter).
