Frederick Keys News Release
Frederick, MD -- Not even the powers of some of the world's favorite Super Heroes could save the Keys on Thursday night, as the Keys fell to Potomac 4-1 on Super Hero Night at Harry Grove Stadium.
Despite out-hitting the Nationals, the Keys were not able to capitalize on their opportunities, stranding 11 runners, including two in scoring position over the last three frames.
Paco Figueroa sparked the Keys offense in the bottom of the first inning, leading off with a single, then stealing second and third base, before Jason Fransz's ground-out allowed him to cross the plate to put Frederick in front 1-0. But after the first inning rain delayed the game for 52-minutes.
After the weather broke, the Nationals would takeover in the top of the fourth inning. Trey Webb hit a two-run home run. Later in the inning Ender Chavez singled to drive in Luke Montz to put Potomac in front 3-1.
In the top of the seventh inning the Nationals would plate one more run, as Devin Ivany would score on Russ Petrick's wild pitch.
The Keys would close the gap in the bottom of the inning when Travis Brown scored on an error Ian Desmond.
Radhames Liz (5-3) takes the loss, allowing three runs on five hits over 6.0 innings.
Ricardo Morales (2-5) picked up the win, allowing a run on six hits over 5.0 innings. Juan Ovalles earned his second save of the season getting the last four outs of the game.
The Keys and Nationals will continue their five game series on Friday with a doubleheader beginning at 4:30 PM. LHP Garrett Olson will start in game one against the Nationals' LHP Mike Hinckley.
Gates for Friday's game will open at 4:00 PM. Tickets are still available by calling the Keys Box Office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or visiting www.frederickkeys.com.
