From the Notes

It's Tough to Chop A Mighty Oaks: The Sounds have faced Omaha starter Trevor Oaks three times this season with little success. Nashville won on a walk off on April 16 after Oaks tossed 6.0 shutout innings. Oaks claimed victories in the other two starts and has posted a 1.42 ERA (19 IP/3 ER) while limiting the Sounds to a .188 batting average.

Shooting Blanks: After last night's 2-0 defeat Nashville has now been blanked eight times in 2018, the most of any team in the Pacific Coast League. For Omaha it was their ninth shutout of the season, the most of any team on the circuit. Both the Sounds and the Storm Chasers have played in 15 shutouts on the campaign, which is tied for the league-high.

Two For Twenty: With his 2-for-4 performance last night, Sounds third baseman Sheldon Neuse has now tallied 20 multi-hit games. He is the third Sounds player to do so this season. Neuse has 18 two-hit games and a pair of three-hit games. Anthony Garcia and Nick Martini have each accumulated 21 multi-hit games to lead the team. BJ Boyd (19) and Jorge Mateo (18) are the next two players closest to the 20-game threshold.

Hit The Start Button: Last night Sounds starter Chris Bassitt allowed just one earned run. Sounds starters have yielded two or fewer earned runs in seven of the eight games after the All-Star break and in 10 of their last 11 games overall. Tonight's starter Daniel Mengden is the only starting pitcher to allow more than two earned runs in that time as he allowed four against Iowa in game two of the July 13 doubleheader. Despite the strong starting performances, Nashville is just 4-4 after the All-Star break.
