July 19, 2018 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Round Rock Express News Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - In their last game ever against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (53-43), the Round Rock Express (46-51) picked up a 4-3 win on Thursday night at Security Service Field. With the Sky Sox relocating to San Antonio in 2019, the Express finish ahead in the all-time series after winning 60 of the 112 games played between the two teams.

Round Rock starter RHP Adrian Sampson (5-3, 4.86) dazzled over 7.0 innings on the mound, stifling the Colorado Springs offense for three runs on seven hits. Sampson also tallied three strikeouts without issuing a walk. On the losing end, Sky Sox reliever RHP Michael Brady (1-4, 6.11) was responsible for the tying and winning runs in the eighth.

Express CF Drew Robinson recorded a double and a triple before the end of the third inning tonight after going 4-5 with two triples and a homer in last night's contest. Following Robinson's three-bagger in the third, 2B Christian Lopes plated the first run of the night when he brought his teammate home on a sacrifice fly.

With Round Rock sitting in front 1-0 in the fourth, RF Hunter Cole connected on his second home run in as many days, a solo shot to center that extended the Express lead to 2-0. The longball was Cole's seventh on the season.

Round Rock saw their early lead evaporate quickly in the bottom half of the frame as the Colorado Springs bats utilized some productive outs to reset the score at 2-2. SS Orlando Arcia doubled to lead off the side, moved to third on a wild pitch, and later raced home on a groundout by CF Tyrone Taylor.

The next two batters, RF Domingo Santana and DH Christian Bethancourt, laced back-to-back singles to place runners on the corners with one out. C Jett Bandy proceeded to drive home Santana on a sacrifice fly to left before Sampson retired the side by inducing a groundout.

The Sky Sox were back at it in the bottom of the sixth, pulling ahead for the first time in the game at 3-2. Arcia started off the frame by roping a triple to right for his second hit of the night before Santana brought him in on an RBI groundout.

Refusing to stay down for long, the E-Train bats charged ahead with two runs in the eighth to get back in front at 4-3. C Carlos Perez ignited the rally when he singled in the first at-bat of the frame. A batter later, 1B Nick Torres punched a single of his own to put runners on the corners for DH Juan Centeno. On a 2-0 pitch from Sky Sox reliever LHP Mike Zagurski, Centeno lofted a sacrifice fly to left, leveling the score 3-3.

With two outs already recorded in the side, Round Rock SS Hanser Alberto lined a shot down the right-field line for an RBI triple to put the Express back in the driver's seat.

Colorado Springs threatened to steal another late win when they put the winning run on base off E-Train reliever RHP Deolis Guerra in the bottom of the ninth. Working with a one-run margin, Guerra enticed Colorado Springs 3B Dylan Moore into a 4-6-3 double play, securing the 4-3 win while notching his second save of the year.

The Express will be on the road again on Friday night, rolling into Nebraska to begin a four-game series against the Omaha Storm Chasers (42-53) at Werner Park. Round Rock LHP David Hurlbut (4-6, 5.86) is slated to duel Omaha LHP Jonathan Dziedzic (3-8, 3.86) on the mound. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. CDT.
