Chihuahuas Doomed by Bad Start

The Albuquerque Isotopes scored seven early runs against El Paso starter Joey Lucchesi in the Isotopes' 7-1 win over the Chihuahuas Wednesday. It was Lucchesi's first Triple-A start after 14 games with the San Diego Padres this season.

The Chihuahuas' run came on an RBI double by Matt Szczur in the fourth inning. El Paso developed other chances but Albuquerque turned three inning-ending double plays. The Isotopes lead the Pacific Coast League in double plays with 104.

El Paso's bullpen didn't allow a run Wednesday, with Kazuhisa Makita, Kyle McGrath, Brad Wieck and Rowan Wick each turning in scoreless appearances. The loss ended a 12-game road winning streak for El Paso.
