From the Notes
Late Homers: Anthony Garcia's game-tying home run in the ninth inning of last night's game was his second ninth inning home run this season. Five of his team-leading 23 home runs this season have come in the seventh inning or later. Like last night's ninth inning home run, which tied the game at 3-3, Garcia's only other ninth inning home run on April 12 against Iowa did the same thing. The Sounds fell in that game 6-3 in 11 innings.
Down But Never Out: The Sounds entered the ninth inning of last night's game down a run to the Baby Cakes and came out victorious in 10 innings. It was Nashville's fifth win this season when trailing after eight innings. The five wins are tied with Fresno for the most in the PCL in that situation.
Quality Stuff: Eric Jokisch spun his 10th quality start of the season last night, which matched James Naile for the team lead. Each of his last four starts have been quality starts. He also has now compiled 141 2/3 innings pitched on the season, which is the most by a Sounds pitcher since Willy Peralta accumulated 146 2/3 in 2012.
For Starters: Carlos Ramirez starts for the Sounds tonight and will be the second Nashville pitcher to make his first career start in the past four days. Danny Coulombe did so on August 26. Ramirez will also be the 22nd different pitcher to start a game for the Sounds this season, which is tied with Las Vegas for the most in the PCL. Fresno has used the fewest starting pitchers with 11. The Sounds had 23 different starting pitchers in 2017.
