Nashville SC Update

March 27, 2023 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - Nashville SC News Release

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nashville Soccer Club will travel to Central Florida this Saturday to take on Orlando City SC at 6:30 p.m. CT in a match that can be seen on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app and heard on 104.5 The Zone.

Nashville SC (2W-2L-1D, 7 pts.) currently tied for fifth place in the Eastern Conference, will face Orlando City SC for the first time in MLS play since 2021. The two sides met last season in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals, where Orlando equalized in stoppage time to send the match to extra time and ultimately won in penalties.

A player to watch this weekend for Nashville SC will be goalkeeper Joe Willis who is coming off a season-high six save performance this past weekend against FC Cincinnati. This season, Willis has allowed just two goals in five matches, with a goals against average of 0.40 and three shutouts.

This past weekend saw the debut of Nashville SC's MLS NEXT Pro affiliate Huntsville City Football Club against Crown Legacy FC, Charlotte FC's affiliate. HCFC secured a victory in its inaugural match, defeating Crown Legacy in penalties after the match was tied after 90 minutes. Huntsville City FC will take on Orlando City B on Friday, marking the first time the club will play the affiliate of the parent club that the First Team will play in the same weekend.

NSC Backstage, the official weekly radio show of Nashville SC will air on 104.5 The Zone this Wednesday. Featuring the voices of Will Boling, Lucas Panzica and Jalil Anibaba, fans will be able to listen to interviews with players and staff.

On Thursday, Nashville SC will host its weekly media availability featuring Head Coach Gary Smith and defender Jack Maher. Media interested in covering the availability in person must RVSP to Nashville SC Communications by 3 p.m. CT on Wednesday, March 29.
