Iowa Cubs News Release

Sounds' outfielder Brendan Katin hit his third home run of the series and led Nashville (4-0) to a 4-2 victory over Iowa (0-4) in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Principal Park. Katin continued to hammer Iowa pitching, finishing up the four-game stand with a .417 average and 6 RBIs.

I-Cubs starter Casey Coleman (0-1, 3.00), making his Triple-A debut, gave Iowa a quality start, giving up two earned runs over six innings while striking out six. Coleman helped his own cause in the bottom of the third by drawing a walk and scoring on Micah Hoffpauir's double down the right field line. Hoffpauir's RBI gave the I-Cubs a 2-1 lead, only their second of the series, but fell behind for good on Katin's 2-run shot in the next frame.

The Cubs took their first lead of the season on a Jason Dubois home run in the second inning to make it 1-0. Dubois' blast over the left field wall was his second of the season and 70th as an Iowa Cub. The lead was short-lived as Norris Hopper tied the game on a sac fly in the top of the third.

The Sounds tallied their final run in the seventh on Adam Heether's home run, his second of the season.

Lefty Chris Waters (1-0. 3.60) earned the win for the Sounds and Chris Smith pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his third save.

The Iowa Cubs open up a four-game series with the Memphis Redbirds at 6:35 p.m. Monday night at Principal Park. RH Mike Parisi is scheduled to pitch for Iowa, with RH Brandon Dickson going for Memphis.
