Greensboro Grasshoppers News Release
(Greensboro, NC) The Greensboro Grasshoppers are proud to welcome Richard Childress and the Cingular #31 Show Car to First Horizon Park on Wednesday, July 19.
Childress, native son to the Piedmont Triad, is the successful owner of Richard Childress Racing in the NEXTEL Cup competition. He raced his own car in NASCAR's top series from 1969 to 1981, earning six top-five and 76 top-10 finishes. Childress is the first owner to win championships in the NASCAR's top series, Busch Grand National, and Truck Series, giving him more than 100 victories. With driver Dale Earnhardt, Childress won championships in 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1993 and 1994, making them one of the best combinations in NASCAR history.
The Cingular #31 show car, driven in NASCAR races by driver Jeff Burton, will be available for viewing from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in the Plaza Gate area of First Horizon Park. Richard Childress will also be signing autographs from 5:30pm-6:30pm. The Plaza Gate will open at 5:30 pm, while all other gates will open at 6:00pm.
