Intimidators take the rubber game 6-3

The GreenJackets walked the plank Friday Night at Lake Olmstead Stadium as they lost to the Intimidators 6-3 on Pirate Night in the ballpark. Kannapolis's starting pitcher, Clayton Richard, threw seven scoreless innings allowing the I's to take the rubber game.

The Intimidators scored their first run in the third inning off of an Aaron Cunningham single that allowed Eric Mesa to score from second. The rest of their runs came in a fiverun fifth inning. The inning was highlighted by a two-run single to right field by Fransisco Hernandez brought Paulo Orlando and Cunningham home.

The Jackets did have one bright spot on the evening as Antoan Richardson hit his first homerun of the season with Adalberto Paulino on first. Augusta could not rally after the homerun to threaten the three run deficit.

Clayton Richard of Kannapolis allowed six hits over seven innings and struck out five batters to earn the win making his record 4-4 for the season. Ryan Shaver got the loss putting him at 8-5 for the season.

The GreenJackets travel to Columbus to play the Catfish in a four game series. They return on Wednesday, July 29th for a four game series against the Charleston Riverdogs.
