Naplin Burns Bolts
August 12, 2005 - Frontier League (FL)
Windy City ThunderBolts News Release
Kalamazoo, MI - The ThunderBolts put a base runner on in each of the 1st two innings against Lee Naplin. They totaled 4 in the rest of the contest as Kalamazoo tripped the Bolts 8-zip Friday night at Homer Stryker Field.
2 innings and a half into the ball game, neither team had sent a runner across home plate. Andrew Barden led the stanza off with a ground ball to 3rd that Jason Crosland mishandled. Adam Leavitt followed with a single. After a groundout and a walk, Frontier League RBI leader Pete Pirman poked a single to chase Barden home. Blaze scored on a wild pitch from the hand of Windy City starter Scott Anderson.
In the 5th inning, the initial 4 batters reached. Within that span, leadoff man Nick Rogers punched a suicide squeeze down the 1st-base line. Justin Schuda couldn't come up with the ball and every runner reached safely. Pirman drilled a second RBI single and Anderson left after 4 frames. 3 of the subsequent 4 batters found the base path against reliever Mike Renery and 6 total came across in the 5th. 10 batters approached the dish.
Naplin's complete-game shutout was the 4th of its kind against Windy City this season and the 2nd fired by Kalamazoo. Josh Beshears did the same on July 2nd.
The second game of the series begins at 5:35 Central tomorrow from Michigan. Righty Bobby Mack makes his 2nd Windy City start. He took the loss against Ohio Valley Monday evening.
