
Wild Things Defeat Roosters

Washington Wild Things News Release
The Washington Wild Things (47-26), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, defeated the Richmond Roosters 9-1 to snap a two-game losing streak, in front of a sellout crowd of 3,503 at Falconi Field Friday night.
Washington jumped on Roosters starting pitcher, Mike Cervera, in the first inning when Matt Swope hit a solo home run. Then Pat O'Brien tripled, driving in Lance Koenig and Chris Sidick.
In the second inning Sidick hit a three run homer, driving in Matt Swope and David Reaver.
The Wild Things' Andy Hudak hit a double to left center, scoring Randy McGraw.
In the fifth inning The Roosters' Justus Kimbrough singled to drive in Mike Bidwell...the only score of the game for Richmond.
In the sixth inning Hudak and Reaver scored the final runs of the game.
RHP Matt Brumit (4-1) got the win with eight innings of work. He allowed seven hits, one run, struck out seven and walked one. Jim Popp finished the game pitching the final three outs of the game.
The Wild Things now lead the East Division of the Frontier League by five games.
The Wild Things meet the Roosters for game two of a three game series Saturday when first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The Wild Things will Advance to the Past in their Retro Jerseys (resembling the Houston Astro Jerseys from the 1970s), courtesy of Advance Auto Parts. Flagship WJPA 95.3 F.M. will broadcast the game. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
