August 13, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Wheeling Nailers News Release
Wheeling W.V. â The Wheeling Nailers announce today that they have traded the rights of goaltender Nick Boucher to the Pee Dee Pride for Defenseman Ray DiLauro. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
DiLauro, 25, joins the Nailers for his third professional season after playing last season with the Columbus Cottonmouths of the ECHL.
The Trenton Titans signed DiLauro as a free agent earlier this summer The Titans then traded him to Pee Dee, but he wanted to stay in the Northeast, in turn Pat Bingham made the deal that will send Boucher's rights to Pee Dee for DiLauro.
"Ray is a big, fast, and skilled defenseman, who is responsible in his own end but can also put up some good offensive numbers," said Nailers Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Pat Bingham.
"I've heard a lot about Wheeling I had talked to Mark Kosick and Ben Blais, they told me that it was a strong organization, with a great coach, and they did well last season. Not only was the hockey side good, but that Wheeling was a great town and got great support from their fans," was Ray's response to why he chose to play in Wheeling.
The 6'2 229 pound native of Bensalem, PA played four seasons at St. Lawrence University. After his college season had ended he went to play for the Reading Royals and was called up to Springfield of the AHL. In his first pro season with Reading he was called up to the AHL three times.
