Dayton Bombers News Release

Dayton, Ohio – The Dayton Bombers of the ECHL—America's Premier "AA" Hockey League—announced on Friday the signing of defenseman Chris Bogas and left wing Lanny Gare (GAIR) for the 2004-05 season.

Bogas, 27, returns to North America after playing in Italy during the 2003-04 season, where he appeared in 23 games with Appiano. The Cleveland Heights native has his best ECHL season in 2001-02, when he scored 36 points (4g, 32a) and collected 78 penalty minutes in 69 games with Jackson.

"Chris is the type of player that will bring leadership to our defense," said Bombers co-owner Don MacAdam. "His experience, skills and character are what we are looking for in the Bombers line-up."

Originally a sixth-round draft pick (148th overall) by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Bogas has played four of his five professional seasons in the ECHL with Louisiana, Toledo and Jackson. He's also appeared in 58 American Hockey League games with St. John's, Philadelphia, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Norfolk, Hershey and Manchester, picking up 13 points (2g, 11a).

Prior to turning pro, the 6-1, 205-pound blueliner played four years of college hockey at Michigan State, scoring 59 points (13g, 46a) in 158 career games.

Gare, 25, had a stellar rookie campaign with Quad City of the United Hockey League last season. His 53 points (18g, 35a) in 60 games not only earned him a spot on the UHL All-Rookie Team, but also precipitated a call-up by the AHL's Hershey Bears. In nine games with Hershey, Gare picked up six PIMs.

"Every assessment on Lanny speaks to a quality player and an individual known for high personal standard," MacAdam said.

In his four seasons at the University of New Hampshire, the 6-1, 195-pound forward racked up 142 points (48g, 94a) in 151 games, including a stellar senior season that saw him score 22 goals and 29 assists in 40 contests.

The Bombers, who are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, open the home portion of their 2004-05 season on October 29 at 7 p.m. against the Wheeling Nailers at the Ervin J. Nutter Center. For information on season ticket packages, group tickets, and individual game tickets, please call (937) 775-4747 or visit the Bombers online at www.daytonbombers.com.
