
Wildcatters Sign New Player

BEAUMONT, TX (August 13, 2004) â Texas Wildcatters Head Coach Robert Dirk announced today the Wildcatters and defenseman Kevin Kotyluk have agreed to terms for the 2004-05 season. Kotyluk is the second new player to agree to terms with the Wildcatters. As per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-3, 230 pound Kotyluk, who is 25 years old, played last season with the Fort Wayne Komets of the UHL. Last year was his second of professional hockey during which he had 16 goals, 21 assists for 37 points and 313 penalty minutes in 70 games. The Golden, British Columbia native appeared in nine playoff games last year with the Komets posting a goal and an assist in the post-season.
"I am looking forward to the new challenges offered by the ECHL. The league is younger and it is a whole other excitement level as the players are trying to make it to the next level," said Kotyluk. "I am really looking forward to playing and having some fun down there in Texas."
Kotyluk played his college career with the University of Massachusetts â Lowell. During his time there he accumulated 11 goals, 23 assists for 34 points and 177 penalty minutes.
"Kotyluk is a power forward that everyone is looking to add to their line up." said Dirk. "He is capable of scoring while adding a physical presence to the team."
The Wildcatters will open their second season on the road against the defending ECHL Eastern Conference Champion Florida Everblades. The home opener is Saturday, October 30 against the Louisiana IceGators. Season tickets for the 2004-05 season are now on sale.
