Grrrowl strengthen offense with two additons

GREENVILLE, SC â The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL, proud affiliates of the Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers, have announced that forwards JOSH OORT and KRYS BARCH have signed ECHL Standard Player Contracts for the upcoming 2004-05 season. Both players have multiple professional seasons under their belts.
JOSH OORT (5-11, 190lbs., Center) comes to Greenville after six successful seasons in Europe. Josh totaled 175 points (66G, 109A) in 77 games over the past two seasons in Holland, for an amazing 2.27 points per game average. Oort also added 15 points (5G, 10A) in eight playoff games with the Amsterdam Bulldogs last season, as they claimed the Championship of the Dutch Super League. In 225 career professional games, Oort has averaged 1.73 points per game (162G, 228A) with 390 points during that stretch. Oort, a St. Catharines, ONT native, was a four-year college teammate of Grrrowl Assistant GM Ryan Stewart at Canisius College, playing in 103 games, totaling 172 points (57G, 115A).
John Marks on Oort: "Josh has put up some great numbers in Europe and is a very competitive person who wants to prove himself in North American hockey. He has the skills to contribute in a big way, and his character and professionalism will be a strong addition to our locker room. Josh has learned how to win, and can add fire-power to a growing list of solid forwards for next season."
KRYS BARCH (6-2, 200lbs., Right Wing) has played most of his career in the AHL with the Portland Pirates, and spent 25 games during the 2001-02 season with the ECHL's Richmond Renegades. Barch, a Guelph, ONT native, took last season off for personal reasons. Barch was a 4th round selection of the Washington Capitals in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. His most productive year was the 2000-01 season when he tallied 25 points (10G, 15A) and 91 penalty minutes in 76 games in Portland.
John Marks on Barch: "Krys is ready to return to professional hockey and begin a new chapter in his hockey career. I really believe that he will be someone who can add a great deal of skill to our team. He has had some solid years in the AHL, and he is still relatively young with a lot of determination."
