This Week's Recap and Results

Wednesday, Feb. 23: Wheeling - 3 at Toledo ‚¬" 6

Toledo scored four power play goals to power past the Nailers at the Huntington Center. The Nailers received a three-point night (1g, 2a) from forward John May, while Jeremy Tucker scored his first career ECHL goal in the contest. Toledo forward Mike Hedden scored his fourth goal in the last two games against Wheeling.

Friday, Feb 25: Wheeling ‚¬" 1 at Elmira-- 3

Kelly Miller scored his eighth goal of the season to give Wheeling a 1-0 lead. However, Elmira scored three unanswered goals to win their first game under new coach Robbie Nichols.

Sunday, Feb. 27: Wheeling ‚¬"2 vs. Greenville -- 4

For the fourth time in the last four games, the Nailers scored first, as Sebastien Bisaillion scored a power play goal in the first period to give Wheeling a 1-0 lead. The Road Warriors outshot the Nailers 14-5 in the second period, but Wheeling received solid goaltending from Patrick Killen to preserve the 1-0 lead after two. However, Greenville scored three goals in the first 4:09 of the third period to take a 3-1 lead. Brendan Connelly later added an empty net tally to extend the lead 4-1. Doug Rogers pulled the Nailers within two with 23 seconds remaining, but it would not be enough as the Road Warriors sweep the season series with Wheeling 6-0.

This Week's Quick Hits

Despite the recent struggles, the shorthanded Nailers have maintained high special teams rankings. Wheeling's power play is ranked third in the league with a 19.8% percentage, while the penalty kill is second best in the ECHL killing off 85.3% of penalties faced.
