Walleye Notes
Past Week Performance! Toledo finished this past week with a 1-3-0-0 record, collecting four points. The week started with a 6-3 home win over the Wheeling Nailers on Wednesday night. Forwards Mike Hedden and Evan Rankin each scored a pair of goals in the win. Friday night, Kalamazoo jumped out to a 4-1 lead and beat Toledo 8-5. Saturday night, the Walleye could not solve Greenville in a 3-0 loss. Sunday afternoon, Toledo scored 3 unanswered goals in the second period to tie Kalamazoo at four before the Wings won 5-4.
Packing the House! Saturday night saw another crowd of 8,000 fans inside the Huntington Center. It was the fourth consecutive Saturday home game with at least 8,000 fans. Five times this season, the Walleye have seen 8,000+ fans and Saturday was the seventh sell-out crowd (7,431) this season.
Hedden's Month! Forward Mike Hedden finished an impressive February with a goal in Sunday's game. In 13 games in the month, Mike scored 13 goals with 7 assists, including his first professional hat trick on February 12th at Wheeling.
Gametime! The Walleye will host the conference leading Reading Royals on a special Thursday night game at the Huntington Center. Toledo is 1-1-1 against the Royals this season. The Royals won the last meeting 8-2 on January 14th in Reading. Friday night will mark the final time this season that the Kalamazoo Wings will be in Toledo. The Wings have bettered Toledo in three straight games, all within the last week. Saturday night, the Walleye will travel to Cincinnati to take on the Cyclones. The Walleye are 6-4-1 against the Cyclones this season.
Promotions! Tuesday night is another night of the Toledo Walleye Coaches Show. Walleye forward Andy Bohmbach and defenseman Sebastien Piche will join Head Coach Nick Vitucci and Matt Melzak from 6-7pm at Pizza Papalis in downtown Toledo. Friday night is the annual "Pink in the Rink" event with the Walleye, featuring the pink ice and the Walleye players will wear special Pink jerseys!
