Elmira, NY- The playoff brand hockey continued inside of First Arena tonight when the Wheeling Nailers skated to a 3-2 victory over the Elmira Jackals in front of 3,987 fans. Bryan Ewing netted one goal and an assist in the contest helping Wheeling pick up their first two points of the weekend. The Jackals picked up where they left off from their 6-4 win last night with a Chaz Johnson goal just 2:33 into the first period. Johnson took a pass from Travis Gawryletz and skated into the offensive zone where he unleashed a snap shot from the far half wall that beat Curtis Darling. The Nailers would strike back with a power play goal from Bryan Ewing at the 7:54 mark. The Nailers picked up a 2-1 lead when Andrew Lord took a one timer feed from Tommy Goebel at the 16:26 mark of the first. The score remained 2-1 Wheeling with the shots even at nine a piece after one period of play.

The back and fourth contest continued in the second period. Neither club could find an answer for the opposing goaltending with Elmira's Michael Teslak turning aside 13 Wheeling shots and Wheeling keeper Curtis Darling turning away 12 Jackal shots.

After the scoreless second period it took 14:17 to find the first goal of the third. Wheeling forward Jordan Morrison netted his 24th of the season on a second attempt. The Jackals would bite back when Colton Yellow Horn pounded home a Travis Gawryletz slap shot rebound at the 17:37 mark. Derek Couture received the second assist. The Jackals continued to pressure with an empty net and extra attacker but couldn't find a solution for the Darling puzzle. Darling ended the evening with 27 saves while Elmira's Michael Teslak turned away 30 in the contest.
