
Gladiators Sign Busniuk

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have signed veteran forward Bryson Busniuk off of waivers. The native of Thunder Bay, Ontario skated in 65 games with the Gladiators last year, and has played for both Dayton and South Carolina in the 2008-09 season.
Before his professional career, Busniuk played for the University of Vermont, where he skated in 113 games, scoring 29 goals and 43 assists. After college, he made his professional debut with the Muskegon Fury of the UHL.
In the 2003-04 season, Busniuk split time between the Greeensboro Generals and the AHL's Binghamton Senators. Since then, he has played for Columbia, Pensacola, Columbia, Gwinnett, Dayton, and two stints with South Carolina.
Last year with Gwinnett, the 6'2", 190 pound forward played in 65 games, tallying 8 goals, 20 assists, 40 penalty minutes, and 1 game winning goal. He also skated in all 8 playoff games with the Gladiators, scoring 1 goal.
Before signing with the gladiators this season, Busniuk has played in 42 games with Dayton and South Carolina, scoring 2 goals, 11 points, and 14 penalty minutes.
Busniuk should be available to play in Saturday night's game against his former team, South Carolina, at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

Began in 1988-89 with five teams playing in four states, the Premier 'AA' Hockey League has grown into a coast-to-coast league that will have 23 teams in 16 states and British Columbia playing 864 games from Oct. 17, 2008 to Apr. 4, 2009. Eighteen of the 23 teams have played at least five years in their current city.
The third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League, the ECHL averaged 4,174 per game last season, marking the fourth year in row and the 16th time in the last 18 years that the league has averaged over 4,000 fans. The league has drawn over four million fans each of the last five years and 11 times in the past 12 seasons.
