
Nailers Add A Pair Of Forwards

Wheeling, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, the proud ECHL affiliate of the Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins and the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, have acquired rookie forwards Corey Couturier and Braden Walls.
The two played against each other in college in the same conference for the past four seasons. Couturier comes out of Ferris State University and Walls played for Alaska-Fairbanks also of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.
This brings the total number of officially announced players on the Nailers' roster to 18.
"Corey and Braden both come to Wheeling with a reputation of being very intense," said Nailers Head Coach Greg Puhalski. "We want that intensity to be infectious throughout our team and Corey and Braden will be leaders in that area."
Corey Couturier is a 24 year old from Traverse City, Michigan who recently completed his collegiate career with the Ferris State Bulldogs in Big Rapids, Michigan. He scored 23 goals in his four seasons while majoring in marketing.
Prior to Ferris State, Couturier played three seasons of juniors with the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL where he was teammates with Mitch Ganzak and Jon Ralph.
Braden Walls is a 24 year old from Calgary, ALTA who previously played four seasons for the Nanooks of the University of Alaska-Fairbanks where he majored in business. He scored 26 goals in college including a team leading 10 goals in his senior year. He also spent three seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with Calgary and Drayton Valley where he scored in double digits in goals each year.
The Nailers have officially announced 18 players for the upcoming 2009-2010 season including 7 returning players.

The Wheeling Nailers officially open the 2009-2010 campaign on October 16th at the South Carolina Stingrays. The home opener for the 18th season of professional hockey in the Friendly City is October 23rd when the Nailers host the Cincinnati Cyclones.
