Swift Current Broncos News Release
Regina, Sask. - Led by a hat trick from Cole Nagy, the Swift Current Broncos (6-16-1-0) doubled up the Moose Jaw Warriors (8-13-2-0) 4-2, winning back-to-back games for the first time this season.
The game's opening goal came on the Broncos second power play of the first period. Kaleb Bulych's one timer from the point was stopped, but Raphael Pelletier jumped on the rebound for his third of the season to put Swift Current ahead 1-0 after one.
Moose Jaw responded quickly in the second period with Riley Krane tying the game just 1:17 into the period.
Nagy scored the first of his three goals by intercepting a clearing attempt by the Warriors, then spinning and firing from the slot for his fourth of the year. The goal came 6:19 into the second period.
Sam McGinley dropped the gloves for his first of two fights in the second period at the 9:02 mark, and the Warriors would tie the game 19 seconds later.
Isaac Poulter kept the Warriors at bay in the third period, turning aside all 16 shots he faced in the final frame. His strong play set the stage for Nagy.
On the power play just over the halfway mark of the third, Nagy took a feed while on the goal line and spun out to the front of the net, sliding home his second of the game to give the Broncos a 3-2 lead with 8:31 to go.
Moose Jaw pulled Brett Mirwald for the extra attacker late, but Swift Current fended off the push by Moose Jaw before Nagy completed his hat trick into an empty net, sealing the victory.
The Broncos are now off for two days before their final game of the 2020-21 season, Wednesday night at 8:00 against the Prince Albert Raiders.
