WAILUKU, Hawai'i (September 4, 2010) - The Orange County Flyers set a new franchise record striking out 17 times against Na Koa Ikaika Maui in a 2-0 loss to their first-round playoff opponent on Saturday at Iron Maehara Stadium. The Flyers, who have now dropped three of four games in Maui, begin the best-of-five South Division Series on Tuesday in Maui.

Flyers starter Jake Renshaw produced his best start of the season, throwing seven strong innings while scattering eight hits and allowing two runs on a pair of sac flies. Renshaw (3-4) took the loss for Orange County, striking out three and walking a batter in the outing.

Renshaw worked out of a bases-loaded jam with no outs in the second inning, striking out Clayton Uyechi and inducing a ground ball by Fehlandt Lentini for an inning-ending double play. In the fourth inning, Phil Avlas reached base on a leadoff error, but OC turned a second double play on a Travon Jackson ground ball to empty the base paths.

Clayton Uyechi started the game for Maui, throwing four scoreless innings before making way for Donald Brandt (15-0), who came on in the fifth inning to secure his GBL record-extending 15th win of the season, keeping him one win ahead of OC's Manny Ayala, who is 14-0.

Uyechi struck out seven Flyers. Brandt and Kent Tsujimoto fanned four in two innings of work, and TJ Macy struck out a pair in the ninth for his third save of the season. With the win, Maui guaranteed it will finish with the best winning percentage in GBL history.

The Orange County Flyers (50-33, 28-10 second half) begin a best-of-five playoff series against Na Koa Ikaika Maui (54-25, 28-8) in Maui on Tuesday, September 7, and will host Game 3 of the series on Friday, September 10 at 7:05pm at Goodwin Field. OC will host Games 4 and 5, if necessary, on September 11 and 12.

The Flyers continue this seven-game series to wrap up the regular season in Maui on Sunday, with a doubleheader beginning at 7:05pm Pacific Time, 4:05pm Hawaiian Time. All games from Maui can be heard live through Live365 with Josh Feldman through www.OrangeCountyFlyers.com.
