Mystics Notes

Open Practice: The Washington Mystics will host an open practice on Tuesday, June 15th from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. at MCI Center. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. The practice is free to the public.

Make that a Double: Chamique Holdsclaw had 14 points and a game high 14 rebounds against the New York Liberty on 6/13 for her second consecutive double-double and fifth of the season. This marks the 58th of her career.

On the Boards: The Mystics out-rebounded the Liberty, 40-26. Washington had 23 defensive rebounds and 17 offensive rebounds. Against New York, every Mystic player that played grabbed at least one rebound.

Career Milestones: Chamique Holdsclaw, who is second in the league in scoring average (20.3), is trying to become the third player in WNBA history to average 20 or more points in consecutive seasons – Cynthia Cooper did it for three straight years (1997-99) and Katie Smith did it in 2000-01.

Close Calls: Four of the eight Mystics games this season have been decided by three points or fewer. Three of those four were victories with Washington defeating the Indiana Fever, 68-67, the Detroit Shock, 65-63 and the New York Liberty, 62-60.

Off the Bench: Against the Liberty, Washington's bench outscored the Liberty's bench, 32-9. In New York's six previous games they had outscored its opponents bench. The Mystics bench also out-rebounded the Liberty's bench, 15-6.

Mystics Players Alana Beard and Stacey Dales-Schuman will help kick off the 2004 HealthierUS Fitness Festival on Tuesday June 15th with a reception from 6:00-8:00 p.m. hosted by Congressman Mark Udall and Zach Wamp on Capitol Hill at the Rayburn House Office Building Courtyard. The festival will follow the reception on Wednesday, June 16th from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on the National Mall by the Capitol Reflecting Pool. Did you Know....Kiesha Brown:

Kiesha Brown was assigned to the Washington Mystics on April 29, 2002. Earlier this season, Brown set a career high for points with 13 against the Los Angeles Sparks.
