MVP Voting and Jersey Auction start Thursday
March 2, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release
FLORENCE, SC â The Florence Pride, proud members of the ECHL, announced today that voting for the Colortyme Most Valuable Player, as well as the team's annual jersey auction, will begin at this Thursday's home game against the Columbus Cottonmouths.
During each of the Pride's next six home games, fans will have the opportunity to vote for the player that they believe has been the Pride's most valuable player during the 2003-2004 season. The player who receives the most votes will receive a 52-inch RCA television from Colortyme Rent-to-Own. In addition, one fan who voted for that player will be chosen at random to receive a big-screen television of their own. The presentations will be made at the Pride's final home game of the regular season on Friday, April 2 against the Greensboro Generals.
A display will be set-up at the Customer Service Table on the concourse for fans to vote for the MVP. Fans must present their ticket stub from the game in order to be able to vote. There is a limit of one vote per person at each of the six home games.
Also at Thursday's game, fans can begin placing bids on the Pride's game-worn jerseys from the 2003-2004 season. Both the white and black sweaters will be auctioned off during the month-long silent auction. Bid sheets will be available at the Customer Service Table, at the Jungle, and at the Pride offices. Fans can also e-mail bids to jbabik@florencepride.com.
The minimum bid on each jersey is $125. An updated listing of the current high bid on each jersey will be available at the Customer Service Table and at the Jungle during each home game. The auction will end following the Pride's home game against the Augusta Lynx on Saturday, March 27. Winners will be notified the following the week, and can pick up their jerseys following the completion of the season. Jerseys must be paid for in full before they can be picked up. Winners from out of state will also be responsible for shipping and handling charges.
Florence is home for three games this weekend. Thursday, the Columbus Cottonmouths come to town for a 7:00 faceoff. On Friday, the Pride host the Greensboro Generals at 7:30 p.m. on "Mac and Cheese Night." Fans are encouraged to visit either Piggly Wiggly or Harris Teeter and purchase a box of macaroni and cheese to bring to the game. The boxes can be used as noisemakers during the game, and following the game, personnel from the Manna House will be on hand to collect the boxes. Sunday, when the Pride hosts Charlotte, is also another Sunday Kids' Day. Tickets for kids 12 and under are available for just $2.50, and kids' meals are available for an additional $2.50.
Tickets for all Pride home games are available at the Florence Civic Center Box Office, or through TicketMaster at (843) 679-9333 or www.ticketmaster.com.
