
Roanoke's Mallette Named InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Roanoke center Carl Mallette is the InGlasCo ECHL
Player of the Week for February 23-29.
In his first professional season, Mallette had a game-winning goal, scored
eight points (3g-5a) and was +5 as Roanoke went 3-1-0 to improve to 28-26-6
and sixth place in the Southern Division, three points out of a Kelly Cup
Playoff berth.
Under contract to Lowell of the American Hockey League, Mallette had a
pair of assists in Roanoke's 4-3 win against Bakersfield on February 24 and
he had an assist in the Express' 4-2 loss at Atlantic City on February 27.
Selected in the fourth round (107th overall) by Atlanta in the 2000
National Hockey League Entry Draft, Mallette scored both goals in a 2-1 win
against Dayton on February 28 and he scored a goal and had a pair of
assists in a 4-3 win against Dayton on February 29.
The 22-year-old Mallette, who began the season with Florida, played 11
games in February and led the Express with seven goals and 15 points while
tying for the team lead in assists with eight and plus-minus with +3. In 50
games with Florida, Mallette scored 41 points (14g-27a) and he ranks third
among ECHL rookies with 35 assists and fourth in scoring with 56 points
(21g-35a).
On behalf of Carl Mallette, a case of pucks will be donated to a Roanoke
area youth hockey organization by InGlasCo.
