Florida Everblades News Release

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (30-21-10) defeated the Augusta Lynx (23-27-6) 5-2 in front of 5,516 at TECO arena Tuesday night. Tom Buckley and John McNabb led the offensive attack scoring two goals apiece.

Florida's offense exploded for three goals in the first period. The onslaught began at the 4:09 mark when Chad Larose stole the puck in the Augusta zone and fed a beautiful cross ice pass that McNabb slapped past goaltender Jason Saal for 1-0 lead. Fourteen seconds later Florida was on top 2-0 when Keith Anderson dropped a pass to Buckley who whipped a wrist shot into the net for his 4th goal of the season. The Everblades would add one more goal just over two minutes later when Mark White's one timer from the point clanked into the net off the far post. Augusta would pull netminder Jason Saal as Gregg Naumenko came on to complete the first period.

Trailing 3-0 in the second period, Augusta pulled to within 3-2 on powerplay goals by Louie Goulet and Jarrett Thompson. Buckley put the Everblades back up by two goals when he gathered his own rebound and threw a backhander that deflected off Naumenko's right leg pad and into the net for his second goal of the evening. Florida led 4-2 after two periods.

McNabb would add his second of the night on a beautiful passing play with Chad Larose again when he slipped a backhander past Naumenko for his 25th goal of the season.

Florida netminder Robb Zepp stopped 28 of 30 shots. Saal stopped 9 of 12 shots and Naumenko stopped 21 of 23 shots. Florida finished 0 for 4 on the power play while Augusta went 2 for 5. The Everblades hit the road for a two game series at Missississipi this Friday and Saturday, March 5th and 6th. The puck drops at 8:35 p.m. both nights.
