Sanford Mainers News Release
LACONIA, N.H. - The Winnipesaukee Muskrats (17-22) unleashed an incredible amount of offensive activity in the first six innings, enough for the hometown nine to cruise to a 10-1 victory over the *Sanford Mainers (24-15)* .
The big inning for the Muskrats came in the 4th, with Winnipesaukee already on top of the Mainers 4-0. Logan McRae (C of Charleston) kicked off the frame with a solo home run to make it 5-0, and the Muskrats only added more after that. Zack Coker (Alabama Tuscaloosa) and Grant Meylan (Santa Clara) walked and singled to get aboard for Anthony Mascelli (Boston College), who knocked in a run on single of his own. A batter later, Keivan Berges (Northwood) took a 1-0 pitch over the fence to right field for a three-run home run to make it 9-0.
Winnipesaukee grabbed a pair of two run innings in the 1st and 3rd. In the 1 st, Winnipesaukee scored runs on back-to-back jacks from Mascelli and Berges, the second of the night for Berges to quickly give the Muskrats a 2-0 lead. In the 3rd, Berges again got to work as he doubled in a run, and came around to score on a James Garnett (Plymouth State) single.
Mainers starter *Will Tribucher (Michigan) *only went three innings for the Moose, after he allowed nine hits, nine runs, nine earned, two walks and four strike outs in three innings of work.
The Moose grabbed their only run of the ballgame in the 6th, when *Todd Czinege (Villanova) *doubled to lead things off. Right fielder *Chris Gaetano (Monmouth) *singled in Czinege to give the Mainers their only run of the game.
Opposite Tribucher was Jorge Jimenez (La Salle) who dazzled in six innings, allowing seven hits, one run, one earned, two walks and one strike out as he scattered the Mainers offensive attack.
The Mainers return to the baseball diamond tomorrow evening when they face the visiting North Adams SteepleCats in Sanford at 6:30 PM. The Mainers have yet to defeat the SteepleCats this year, with all games so far having been played in North Adams. Pregame and game coverage will be carried on the NECBL Broadcast Network beginning at 6:15 PM.
