July 28, 2016 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) - Mystic Schooners News Release

The offense remained hot after scoring 10 runs on Wednesday night as the Schooners put up eight runs on 14 hits Thursday night over Keene.

The Schooners struck first off a two-run home run by Ryan Ramiz to right center field scoring Nick Mascelli from first base.

In the 2nd inning, CJ Moore would lead off with a double and advanced to third on a groundout by Taishi Terashima. Moore scored when Mascelli reached first base safely on a throwing error by the shortstop and then took second. Mascelli would steal third and a throwing error by the catcher would allow Mascelli to score making it 4-0.

In the fifth, Ryan Ramiz lead off with a double and would score on a Rich Slenker single to right field. Martin Figuroa would hit his sixth home run, a solo shot to left field to give the Schooners a 6-0 lead.

Taishi Terashima hit his first home run of the season in the 7th inning that just cleared the fence in left field. Mascelli would come around and score off another Rich Slenker single to make it 8-0.

The Schooner pitching staff shut down Keene's bats all night long. Starting pitcher, Kevin Magee, gave the Schooners five scoreless innings, giving up four hits while striking out six and walking two. Reliever Joe Rivera made the only mistake of the night leaving a hanging fastball over the plate for Lucas Luopa who hit it out of the ballpark for the only Swamp Bat run of the night.

The Schooners improve to 25-14 on the year and sit 3 games over the Newport Gulls in first place in the Southern Division. The Schooners go on the road to play the Newport Gulls Friday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35PM.
