Sioux City Musketeers News Release
(Sioux City, IA) - The Sioux City Musketeers have added defenseman William Smith to the roster. Smith comes to Sioux City from the Aurora Tigers of the Ontario Junior Hockey League where he racked up 25 points in 30 games this season. The Toronto native has committed to play his college hockey at UMass, the defending NCAA National Champions.
Musketeers General Manager Andy Johnson has very high hopes for Smith saying "William is a swift-skating defenseman with a high level of hockey IQ who possesses a stick that can score and make high-level plays. Our Ontario scouts Daniel Deschenes and Dylan Galloway pushed hard for him and projected him as a first-or-second round pick for the USHL Draft this upcoming May. When the opportunity presented itself to bring him in immediately, we couldn't pass it up."
Smith will play his first game for Sioux City on Friday night when the Musketeers host Omaha at 7:05 pm.
