Myrtle Beach, S.C. - The Carolina Mudcats scored eight unanswered runs over the last four innings to pull away for an 8-2 win in game one of a twin bill against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at TicketReturn.com Field. The Mudcats snapped a 10-game losing streak to the Pelicans, and improved to 22-46.

Michael Goodnight (1-0) picked up his first win by hurling three scoreless innings in relief. The right-hander scattered three hits, walked one and struck out two.

Nick Martinez (5-4) took the loss for Myrtle Beach (38-29). The Pelicans clinched the first half Southern Division title despite the loss when Winston-Salem fell to Wilmington earlier in the evening.

The Mudcats stole a game-high six bases in the win. Francisco Lindor swiped second twice to increase his season total to 17.

Tyler Naquin, Lindor and Joey Wendle each recorded two hits.

Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, Carolina took advantage of an error and three hits to score three runs. Jordan Smith brought in the tying run on a fielder's choice up the middle. After a steal of second base, Bo Greenwell drove in Smith with a single to center.

Two errors on Pelicans' first baseman Joe Maloney led to the Mudcats' fourth run in the fifth.

With two out in the sixth, Naquin singled in two on a liner to shallow right. Lindor followed with a single through the right side to bring home Naquin for a 7-2 advantage. Lindor swiped second, and scored on a double by Wendle to right field that capped the scoring.

Game two is scheduled to begin at 9:05 p.m.
