Mudcats Rank in Top 25 in Merchandise Sales for 17th Straight Year

ZEBULON, NC - The Carolina Mudcats, the Class A Advanced affiliate of the Atlanta Braves and member of the historic Carolina League, are proud to announce that 2014 team merchandise sales again ranked among the Top 25 best in Minor League Baseball and did so for the 17th consecutive season.

According to a report released Monday by the Sports Business Journal, the sale of apparel, headwear and novelties for the 160 affiliated minor league teams generated an all-time high in 2014.

"We knew, when we created the logo and mascot, that it needed to be lovable, and it had to appeal to local, regional, and national fans," said Carolina Mudcats Owner and President Steve Bryant.

"Mudcats is just one of those names and logos that stands the test of time. Its success can be directly tied to its simple design and, of course, the support of fans both locally and across the nation."

According to Minor League Baseball, online sales have also played a significant role in the steady growth of merchandise sales, as Minor League Baseball experienced a 17.6 percent increase over 2013. The official release from Minor League Baseball is attached.

The Carolina Mudcats are the Class A Advanced affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. The 2015 "Braves New World" season is the first for the Mudcats as an affiliate of the Atlanta Braves and their fourth straight in the historic Carolina League. First established in 1991, the Carolina Mudcats are in their 25th straight season of baseball at Five County Stadium in Zebulon, N.C.
