Frederick Keys News Release

FREDERICK, Md. -This Saturday, former Key and current Orioles pitcher, Kevin Gausman, will pitch for the orange and black in Wilmington, Delaware, when the Keys take on the Blue Rocks at 7:05 p.m from Frawley Stadium. Gausman is scheduled to make the start as part of a Major League rehab assignment. Placed on the O's disabled list on May 8 (retroactive to May 7), the Colorado native is working his way back from right shoulder tendinitis.

Gausman made eight appearances for the Orioles before going on the disabled list. Pitching exclusively out of the bullpen, he went 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA, giving up six earned runs in 12 innings. He walked five, struck out 13 and was limiting opponents to a .239 average.

This will be Gausman's fourth career appearance in a Keys uniform. After signing with the Orioles in July 2012, the right-hander began his professional career at Short-Season Aberdeen before making three starts for Frederick that August. Pitching three innings in each outing, he went 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA. He limited right-handed hitters to a .160 batting average (4-for-25).

After making his Major League debut in 2013, Gausman had six stints with the Orioles in 2014, going 7-7 with a 3.57 ERA over 20 starts. In 16 of those appearances he allowed three runs or less, while he registered a 3.18 ERA in nine road starts, second-best among American League rookies. The 24-year-old was selected by Baltimore with the fourth overall pick in the 2012 draft.

Frederick begins a four-game series with the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Thursday night. Right- hander David Hess (2-2, 5.07) makes the start for the Keys and will be opposed by Blue Crew lefty Eric Skoglund (3-2, 2.30). The Keys return home on Monday, June 8 at 7:00 p.m when the Myrtle Beach Pelicans come to town. For tickets, fans can contact the Keys at 301-815-9939 or visit frederickkeys.com.
