
Mudcats Lose a Pitcher's Duel

Zebulon, NC- The Carolina Mudcats (33-27) lost a pitcher's duel 2-1 to the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx (24-37) Thursday night at Five County Stadium.
Marshall Hubbard belted two solo homers, supplying all the offense for the Diamond Jaxx. The former North Carolina Tar Heel drilled a shot off the scoreboard in left in the first and a bomb off the visiting clubhouse beyond the wall in right in the ninth inning.
The Mudcats lone run came on a first pitch home run off the bat of Sean Henry to lead off the game. Zach Cozart's 13-game hitting streak was snapped as Carolina mustered only six hits as a team.
Zach Stewart started the game for Carolina, yielding one run on five hits and a walk over six innings pitched. Ruben Medina (L, 1-3) threw 1.2 innings, striking out three while yielding an earned run on the Hubbard homer.
The Mudcats look to rebound Friday night at 7:15 PM at Five County Stadium. Carolina will send league ERA leader Travis Wood (5-3, 1.22) to the mound against Luis Munoz (1-2, 4.86) of West Tenn.
