
Sosa Drives Bears Past Tennessee 4-1

Mobile, A.L. -The Smokies (26-35) fall 4-1 at Mobile (35-27) and have their season long five game winning streak snapped, Thursday night at Hank Aaron in Mobile.
Matt Torra (4-6) pitched 7 innings in the victory for Mobile. He allowed nine hits but only one run with two walks and three strikeouts.
Marcos Mateo (1-4) worked into the seventh but ended up leaving with two runners on base and no outs. He ended up going 6 innings on the night allowing three runs and six hits. Mateo issued a walk and fanned four in the defeat.
The Smokies scored a quick run in the top of the first. Tony Thomas doubled leading off the game and Jim Adduci then bunted attempting to move him to third. Pitcher Matt Torra committed a throwing error attempting to get Adduci at first and Thomas scored.
Mobile tied the game up at one in the last of fourth when Chris Rahl scored on a double by Cyle Hankerd. Hankerd hit a fly ball to leftfield which was lost in the twilight by Ty Wright.
The Baybears broke the tie game scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh. The inning started with three straight singles including a run scoring hit by Ricardo Sosa. Mark Hallberg also drove home a run with a single.
Sosa again delivered for Mobile with a RBI hit in the eighth to ice the game.
Tennessee is back at Smokies Park for a 5-game home stand starting Wednesday June 17th. The series will be against the Cincinnati Reds affiliate Carolina Mudcats and will be the final home stand of the first half.
