Wilmington Blue Rocks (23-25) at Carolina Mudcats (22-26)

NEWS & NOTES:

- About Last Night - The Winston-Salem Dash plated six unanswered over the final three innings to win 8-3. The victory finished off a sweep of the three-game set for the White Sox affiliate. The game featured more walks (19) than hits (14). A total of 26 base runners were stranded on base.

- Downward Spiral - The Mudcats have lost five in a row and nine of 11. During this stretch, opponents are averaging nearly six runs per game. The Mudcats have allowed seven runs or more in each of the last four games. The opposition has scored first in six of the last eight.

- Doing What He Does Best - Jeremie Tice shares the Carolina League home run lead with 10 on the year entering today's game. He has a league high 40 RBI. His .312 batting average is 8th, and he is fourth in doubles (14). Tice owns a six game hitting streak as well.

- In Need of Luck - If it wasn't for bad luck, Michael Goodnight would have none. In four of his last six outings, Goodnight has held opponents to two runs or less, and has lowered his ERA nearly every time out. Yet, the right-hander owns a 0-4 record during this stretch. Goodnight's last two outings have been his longest (six innings each).

- Lot of Free Bases - The Mudcats lead the CL in walks, issuing 203 on the year. That is an average of 4.2 per game. In the last four contests, 11 runs for the opponent came from batters who drew a base on balls. Opponents have scored 212 runs against Carolina, 53 of those are batters who walked. Carolina has three pitchers in the top five for walks allowed.
