
Blue Rocks Send Mudcats to Sixth Straight Defeat

ZEBULON, NC - The Carolina Mudcats dropped their sixth straight game before a crowd of 5,130 on Memorial Day at Five County Stadium, the latest setback a 4-3 decision to the Wilmington Blue Rocks.
Leondy Perez (3-1) picked up the win by tossing six innings. The right-hander allowed three runs on eight hits. Chase Boruff recorded the final two outs in the ninth for his third save.
Michael Goodnight (1-5) pitched his longest out of the year for Carolina. The Houston, Texas, native fanned a season-high nine batters, but allowed four runs on 10 hits.
Carolina (22-27) scored two runs in the second inning, but the lead was short lived. Wilmington (24-25) rallied for two runs on four hits to even the score at the outset of the third frame.
The Blue Rocks took the lead for good in the fourth inning. With two outs, Luis Piterson looped a single into right field. Angel Franco followed with a blast over the right field wall for a 4-2 lead. It was the shortstop's first home run of the year.
In the fifth inning, Tony Wolters launched his first home run of the year to round out the scoring.
