Dash Split Twin Bill with Outburst in Game Two

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (May 28, 2012) - The Dash smacked 11 hits in a 7-1 victory in game two of a Memorial Day doubleheader to earn a split against the Frederick Keys at BB&T Ballpark. The Keys cruised to a 9-3 win in the opener.

Winston-Salem (29-20) sent 10 men to the plate in a five-run fourth inning in game two. Michael Earley notched his team-high 32nd RBI of the year with a double to score Dan Black and give the Dash a 2-1 lead. Kyle Shelton followed with a two-run double to score Blanke and Earley. Jake Oester and Carlos Sanchez also knocked in runs to push the Dash out to a 5-1 lead.

Oester recorded his first three-RBI game of the season with a two-run double in the fifth to score Blanke and Shelton for a 7-1 advantage.

Dash starter Ryan Buch (3-5) rolled to a five-inning victory. Buch allowed a run on two hits in the first inning, but he held the Keys scoreless throughout the rest of his outing. Chris Bassitt recorded two scoreless innings out of the bullpen to finish off the win.

Frederick (19-28) got off the bus swinging in game one, scoring five runs in the first two innings. The Keys led off the game with three consecutive hits and plated the first three men in the lineup to take a 3-0 lead in the first.

Winston-Salem loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning but only scored one run. Brady Shoemaker singled home Daniel Wagner for his league-leading 56th hit of the season. Earley tacked on a solo home run in the fourth to make it a 6-2 game.

After tallying two runs in the second and one in the third, Frederick broke the game open with three runs in the sixth. Johnny Ruettiger scored for the third time on a two-run double from Ty Kelly to give the Keys a 9-2 lead. The second baseman finished 3-for-4 in game one with three doubles and 3 RBI. The Keys recorded a season-high 17 hits.

The Dash added a run in the sixth when Trayce Thompson doubled and scored on an RBI from Miguel Gonzalez.

Right-hander Matt Heidenreich (4-1, 3.32 ERA) gets the ball for Winston-Salem Tuesday night in game three of the five-game series. Frederick sends southpaw Rick Zagone (2-0, 1.80 ERA) to the mound. First pitch is slated for 7:00.
