Mudcats Fall to Lookouts

Carolina Mudcats News Release

Chattanooga, TN --- Eddy Perez drove in four runs, while James Adkins permitted two over six innings as Chattanooga defeated Carolina 9-3 at AT&T Field on Wednesday afternoon.

The Lookouts (5-5) scored four times in the first against Mudcats lefty Lee Tabor (L, 0-1). Tabor allowed five hits in the opening inning, including run-scoring singles by Perez and Russ Mitchell. Gabriel Gutierrez doubled in two more with two outs for a 4-0 lead. Tabor was making his first start in nearly three years, filling a void left with the injury to RHP Dallas Buck suffered last week.

Carolina (2-8) scored a run in the fourth on a double by Carson Kainer, but Tabor allowed two unearned runs in the bottom half as the Lookouts moved ahead 6-1.

A Zack Cozart sacrifice fly in the sixth drove in Eric Eymann to trim the deficit to 6-2, but Perez struck again in the bottom of the eighth. With the bases loaded, Perez blew up his bat on a Sean Watson pitch, but muscled a double down the right field line for a three-run double. Perez has driven home seven runs in the last two games against the Mudcats.

The six-game series against Chattanooga continues Thursday night at 7:15 PM ET with Jordan Smith starting against Travis Chick.
