Huntsville, AL --- Todd Frazier drilled a solo homer to centerfield to snap a 3-3 tie in the eighth inning to lead the Carolina Mudcats to their third straight win, defeating first-half champion Huntsville 4-3 at Joe Davis Stadium.

Frazier, who connected on a 2-2 pitch against Casey Baron (L, 4-6), hit his sixth home run in his last 81 at bats. Sean Watson (W, 3-4) earned the victory working two scoreless innings in relief, thanks in large part to Frazier's defense. Watson gutted through a two-on, two-out jam in the seventh when Frazier raced back to the left field wall to grab Jonathan Lucroy's drive to maintain a 3-3 tie. Frazier's homer occurred in the next half inning.

Logan Ondrusek (S, 6) worked a perfect ninth inning to record his third save in as many opportunities.

Carolina (10-16) took a 1-0 lead in the first on a single by Juan Francisco, scoring Sean Henry from second. The Stars (11-15) went ahead with two runs in the first against starter Lee Tabor, but saw the Mudcats quickly tie the score against starter Mike Jones on a homer by Stephen Chapman in the second. Carolina took a 3-2 lead in the third when Henry scored on a Jones wild pitch.

The Stars tied the game in the fourth on Vinny Rottino's fourth homer of the season, but the game remained tied until Frazier's blast over the 405' sign in centerfield.

Carolina outhit Huntsville 10-5 in the meeting, which was the first since April 24th for the two Northern Division rivals. Huntsville won the first half over Carolina by a single game. Had the clubs tied for the first-half title, Tuesday's game would've been the first-half tie-breaker.

Tabor worked five innings, allowing four hits and three runs, with only two earned. Jones whiffed nine over six frames for Huntsville.

Tuesday's game was delayed over an hour by rain before the first pitch was thrown.

The five-game series continues on Wednesday night with Matt Klinker (3-1, 2.52) starting against Sam Narron (0-0, 5.40) at 8:00 PM ET.
