Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

LOSING SKID SNAPPED ON FRIDAY VS. FORT WORTH – On Friday, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs ended a seven-game winless streak with a 3-1 victory over Fort Worth. After a scoreless first period, Forbes MacPherson started the game's scoring with the first shorthanded goal of the year for the Mudbugs, just 40 seconds into the second period. In the third, Fort Worth's Jeff Cameron tied the game with his second goal of the season. After both teams battled back and forth, Tony Bergin's blue line shot beat Brahma goalie Jason Fricker with 1:57 remaining in the game. Forbes MacPherson iced the game with an empty-netter for his second goal of the night with ten seconds to play. Jonathan Forest recorded his first home win of the season and improved to 2-4-2 overall by making 17 saves. The win also ended a five-game home winless streak for the Mudbugs, their longest in franchise history.

MEMPHIS WINS IN ANOTHER SHOOTOUT VS. BUGS – Saturday night's game versus the Memphis RiverKings proved to be another thrilling battle that once again dwindled down to a shootout between the two rivals. Don Parsons gave the RiverKings a 1-0 lead late in the first with his league-leading 19th goal of the season. But with multiple power play chances in the second period, including a match penalty to Kahlil Thomas for kicking Dan Wildfong in a fight, the Mudbugs tied the game with a power play goal from Darren Dougan. Memphis netminder Jean-Francois Racine and Mudbugs goalie Ken Carroll both shined in the third period to maintain the 1-1 deadlock. After a scoreless overtime, the two teams went into a shootout for the third time this season. After getting a goal from Forbes MacPherson, Memphis scored three straight to claim the extra point in the Northeast Division standings. Ken Carroll suffered the loss for the Mudbugs, despite making 26 saves.

OFF TO THE ROAD – The Mudbugs will depart tonight for one of the longest road trips of the season as they leave for a Wednesday night contest in Indianapolis. On Saturday, the Mudbugs will then meet the Amarillo Gorillas to end the road trip. The three games begin a stretch of five straight away from the CenturyTel Center. In fact, the Mudbugs will play just one of their next ten games at home (December 26th vs. Indianapolis).

MacPHERSON HEATING UP – After missing the first six games of the season, Forbes MacPherson continues to pile up points as one of the Mudbugs' scoring leaders over the past few weeks. After recording four points in the two games last weekend, MacPherson will enter Wednesday's game vs. Indianapolis with a four-game point-scoring streak. He has now scored seven points in his last five games, including four goals.

POWER PLAY WITH SCOTT MUSCUTT – Due to the Mudbugs' travel schedule, this week's edition of "Power Play with Scott Muscutt" will not take place at Boomtown Casino. However, the program will still be aired on Sports Radio AM 1130 The Fan at 6 p.m. on Tuesday with Scott Tarkowski, Butch Bellah, and former Mudbug Tim Hill serving as the hosts. The show will include an interview with Scott Muscutt from the road and also a call-in report from broadcaster Steve Mears.
