Mudbugs to Welcome Jacob Hester on Saturday

The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs are pleased to announce that former Louisiana State University running back and Shreveport native Jacob Hester will be appearing at the Mudbugs regular season finale on Saturday, March 22nd against the Rocky Mountain Rage. Hester helped LSU capture the 2008 BCS National Championship in his recently completed senior season, leading the Tigers with 1,103 rushing yards, and is projected to be among the first fullbacks taken in the upcoming NFL draft.

Hester will be dropping the ceremonial puck prior to the Mudbugs final game of the regular season, and will be available to meet fans and pose for photographs at a location on the main concourse of the CenturyTel Arena. In celebration of Hester's visit, the 2007-2008 Governors' Cup Champion Mudbugs will also be wearing special purple and gold jerseys that will be available in a live auction at the conclusion of the game.

Jacob Hester Notes (LSUsports.net) - Consummate team player who wore a variety of hats during his LSU career - Named a permanent team captain for the Tigers for the 2007 season - Started 27 straight games at running back during his final two years with the Tigers - Capped career with 1,780 yards rushing and 20 rushing touchdowns - Had best season as a senior, rushing for 1,103 yards and 12 scores - Participated in the Senior Bowl following the 2007 season - Named the state's top high school fullback in 2003 after earning Louisiana 5A Offensive MVP honors in 2002 - Rushed for 868 yards on 182 carries and 22 touchdowns en route to a 5A state championship game appearance in 2003 - Earned 5A Offensive MVP honors after a stellar junior season, rushing for more than 1,593 yards on 222 attempts and 24 touchdowns spearheading the Eagles to the state title in 2002 - Member of two state championship teams - Born May 8, 1985, in Shreveport - Married the former Katie Tilley on July 28, 2007, proposed outside War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock moments after LSU's 31-26 win over the Razorbacks in 2006 - Majoring in sports studies.

The Mudbugs have two more regular season games to play before starting their 2008 CHL playoff run as the league's number one overall seed. Friday night the Bugs will take on division rival Texas at 7:05 pm at CenturyTel Center in the second of our three Boomtown Trading Card Giveaway Nights. Then in their final regular season game, the Mudbugs will host Rocky Mountain in what could be a deciding game for the Rage's playoff hopes on Saturday night at 7:05.
