Bucks Still Need One Point To Clinch South
March 19, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League still need one more point to clinch home ice advantage throughout the Southern Conference Playoffs. The next Laredo win or Arizona loss would give the Bucks the one point they need to clinch. Laredo could get that point Wednesday night if Arizona loses to Rocky Mountain.
If the Sundogs were to win Wednesday night the Bucks next opportunity to clinch the South would be Friday night when they host Rio Grande Valley, and the Sundogs host Odessa.
Laredo (40-19-3, 83pts) knows for sure that their first two playoff games are Saturday March 29th, and Monday March 31st at the LEC. What they don't know yet is if they will be the number one or two seed, or who their opponent will be. The only thing that is for certain is the five teams that have made the Southern Conference playoffs (Laredo, Arizona, Odessa, New Mexico, and Austin).
Laredo or Arizona will be either the first or second seed, Odessa and New Mexico will either be the third or fourth seed, and Austin will be the fifth seed no matter what happens this week. The Ice Bats will play either Odessa or New Mexico in the best of three first round series.
