Mudbugs to Open Playoffs vs. Rage

BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs will start their 2009 run at a CHL President's Cup Championship with an opening round playoff series against the Rocky Mountain Rage. The fourth-seeded Mudbugs and fifth-seeded Rage will face off in Game 1 of their Northern Conference Quarterfinal series on Monday night in Broomfield, Colorado.

The series will be a best-of-three matchup with the winner going on to face the top-seeded Governor's Cup Champion Colorado Eagles in the second round of the playoffs.

As the lower seed in the so-called "play-in" series, the Rage will host game 1 on Monday night at the Broomfield Events Center at 8:05 pm Central time. The game will be broadcast on News Radio 710 AM KEEL with pregame coverage at starting at 7:45 pm.

The ‘Bugs will return to Bossier City to host Game 2 of the series on Wednesday night at 7:05 pm at the CenturyTel Center. If necessary, a deciding Game 3 between the teams would follow on Thursday night at the CTC, also getting underway at 7:05 pm.

Tickets for Game 2 will go on sale on Monday morning at 9:30 am at the CenturyTel Center main box office. The Mudbugs were 2-0 against Rocky Mountain during the regular season, but the teams haven't played since back on November 21 in Broomfield. Bossier-Shreveport beat Rocky Mountain 3-2 in a shootout on November 8 here in Bossier City before winning a 5-2 decision at Rocky Mountain two weeks later. The Rage are making their first-ever playoff appearance in their third year of existence. The Mudbugs have never lost to the Rage in regulation, sporting a 6-0-1 record in seven all-time meetings between the two teams.
