Ray Miron President's Cup Participants Finalized

March 21, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release


The 10 teams that will compete for the 2009 Central Hockey League (CHL) Ray Miron President's Cup have been determined after the final day of the regular season produced the 10th and final team, the Corpus Christi IceRays.

The IceRays won a thrilling must-win game to get in the post-season defeating the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 3-2 in a shootout.

The top seeds in each conference are the Colorado Eagles and the Texas Brahmas who will have to wait until the best-of-three opening round series' are complete to determine their first opponents. The Eagles finished the season with 94 points winning their third Governors' Cup (regular season championship).

The series' look like this:

NORTH #1 Colorado Eagles (bye) #2 Mississippi RiverKings vs. #3 Oklahoma City Blazers #4 Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs vs. #5 Rocky Mountain Rage

SOUTH #1 Texas Brahmas (bye) #2 Odessa Jackalopes vs. #3 Laredo Bucks #4 Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees vs. #5 Corpus Christi IceRays

The first series' will begin on Monday, March 23rd and the entire 2009 Opening Round and a portion of the Conference Semifinals Series will be announced on Sunday, March 22nd.
