Colorado Eagles News Release

BOSSIER CITY, La. - The Colorado Eagles fell into a 3-0 series hole in the Northern Conference Semifinals as the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs took Game 3 with a 3-1 win. Ken Carroll stopped every Eagles shot until the final minute on the way to a 24-of-25 save performance. The Mudbugs scored three goals on just 20 shots as they were out-shot for the second game in a row.

The two teams played an even opening period, with Bossier-Shreveport netting a late power-play goal to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. It took just 18 seconds for the 'Bugs to capitalize on their only man-advantage chance of the frame, when Shawn Limpright put home a Jeff Kyrzakos rebound 23 seconds before the break.

The 'Bugs continued to be opportunistic in the second period as they out-scored Colorado 2-0 to take a 3-0 lead into the third period. Travis Clayton made it 2-0, 2:44 in, when he deflected a Chris St. Croix point shot from the slot.

The Eagles had their chances to get on the scoreboard midway through the second stanza, but went 0-2 on consecutive power plays, with David Pszenyczny scoring as he came out of the penalty box -- creating a 3-on-2 rush -- after the latter.

The Eagles out-shot the Mudbugs 8-2 in a quick-moving third period as they tried desperately to get on the scoreboard. However, Colorado couldn't break through until the final minute of play when Riley Nelson scored an extra attacker tally.

On the play, the Eagles' captain put home a Ryan Tobler rebound from the right slot with just 57 seconds left in the game, snapping Carroll's shutout bid. With the goal, Nelson became the franchise's all-time leading playoff point producer -- surpassing Greg Pankewicz -- with his 96th point in seven seasons.

The Eagles will look to avoid the sweep and climb back into the best-of-seven series in Game 4 on Friday night in Bossier City, La.
