CHL Performance of the Year Finalists Announced

(Tempe, Arizona) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today the six finalists for the CHL Performance of the Year. The final poll is now available at www.centralhockeyleague.com and will run through Monday, April 12 and be announced on Tuesday, April 13.

The winner of the final regular season Performance of the Week poll has also been announced as one of the six finalists. The finals week's winner is the Arizona Sundogs who in their 7-6 win over the Colorado Eagles on March 19 used special teams to account for all seven of their scores. The Sundogs scored six times on the power play (in 13 chances) and tallied one shorthanded goal.

The Sundogs narrowly edged out Mississippi's Ryan Held for the final week nod receiving 437 of 1,235 votes (35.3%). Held was a nominee thanks to his late goal extending his goal scoring streak on March 20.

Joining the Sundogs seven special team scores as the remaining finalists for the CHL Performance of the Year are:

-Mudbugs Simon Mangos scoring two times in an 11-round shootout during his team's 5-4 come-from-behind win at Odessa on October 24

-Missouri's Jeff Christian scoring his 500th professional goal in win at Tulsa on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 26)

-Mississippi's Louis Dumont scoring four goals in final 5:01 of third period erasing one-goal deficit in 6-3 win over Colorado on December 4

-Missouri winning on road after trailing 3-0 in Bossier-Shreveport after smothering Mudbugs offense allowing just five total shots on goal in final 40 minutes of game, January 2

-Rio Grande Valley's Andy Franck making 50 saves in 3-2 shootout win at Laredo including 26 saves in second period on February 4
