Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Mud Hens allowed a 1-0 lead to slip away late in the game Sunday only to walk it off in the ninth via the bat of Steven Moya.

The Hens continued their trend of striking first, with Sunday marking the fifth time in the last seven games Toledo has opened the scoring. Anthony Gose led off with a triple to left-center field and was driven in on a bloop single by Dixon Machado to put the Hens up 1-0 early.

Toledo rode the pitching success of Chad Bell through six shutout innings to preserve their slim lead. The lefty allowed no runs on two hits and two walks with five strikeouts in his start. Preston Guillmet entered and allowed three hits in the seventh, but got all three outs by way of the strikeout to leave the bases loaded and lower his ERA even further to an impressive 0.75.

The Bisons finally got on the board in the eighth when they struck for two runs off Bobby Parnell. A single by Dalton Pompey would start the rally. Andy Burns singled next, and a misplay in left by Moya allowed Pompey to go to third. Matt Dominguez scored Pompey on a sacrifice fly, tying the game 1-1. Jesus Montero then drove in Burns on a single to hand the Bisons a late 2-1 lead.

The Hens looked poised to answer back in the eighth when Jason Krizan stroked a double to left with one out. Buffalo reliever Pat Venditte, as he was able to do in the sixth and seventh, escaped without harm once again.

With Dustin Antolin coming in to close it out for the Bisons, Gose singled to left in an attempt to start a Mud Hens rally. Machado then sacrificed Gose to second on a bunt before Moya blasted a 2-run shot to deep left-center to end it in walk-off fashion. Moya, who was 0-for-4 going into the at-bat, was able to make up for his error in the eighth with his IL-leading 10th home run.

The Hens won both series featured in the six-game homestand - first with Durham and now with Buffalo - and have come away victorious in four of their last seven contests.

The Mud Hens get back on the road for four games at Louisville before returning home for a three-game set with Indianapolis.
