
Motor City Reaches .500 With 11th Straight Win

Roanoke, VA â The Motor City Mechanics reached .500 tonight for the first time in franchise history with their 11th consecutive win, a 3-1 victory over the Richmond RiverDogs. This is the Mechanics ninth straight win on the road and they are now 36-36-7 overall.
After two scoreless periods of play, Joe Burton found the back of the net and gave the Mechanics a 1-0 lead 23 seconds into the third period, drawing assists from Matt Hunter and Blair Manning. Burton, along with Kevin Hansen, assisted on Hunter's goal moments later to give Motor City a 2-0 advantage. Richmond's Bobby Kukulka slipped one past Mechanics netminder Rod Branch to cut the lead to one. RiverDogs goalie Brent Belecki was pulled with one minute remaining in the game, but Jeff Doyle tipped in a Jared Ross shot at the empty net for the 3-1 final.
In goal, Branch made 24 saves for Motor City, while Belecki stopped 37 shots for Richmond.
