INDIANAPOLIS -- Starting pitcher Dustin Moseley limited the Indianapolis Indians to just two runs on three hits while striking out 10 over seven dominant innings and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre bullpen preserved the lead with five strikeouts of their own to propel the Yankees to a 3-2 win over the Tribe on Saturday night at PNC Field.

With the loss, Indianapolis' record falls to 35-28 on the season, while the win improves Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to an identical 35-28 mark. The victory also gives the Yankees a 4-1 season-series edge over the Tribe, after Scranton/Wilkes-Barre claimed three of four contests played at Victory Field in May.

Moseley (7.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 10 SO) struck out a season-high 10 batters and recorded 20 of his 21 outs via either a ground ball or a strikeout to earn his third win of the season. Yankees' LHP Boone Logan (1.0 IP, 0 R, 2 SO) retired the Indians in order in the eighth to earn his sixth hold of the season, while closer Jonathan Albaladejo (1.0 IP, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 SO) shut the door on any thoughts of an Indianapolis comeback in the ninth with his 20th save of the year.

In a contest that belonged largely to the pitching staffs, the Yankees jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with two, two-out runs in the bottom half of the first inning. After the first two batters were retired with relative ease, International League hits leader Eduardo Nunez started a two-out rally with a single to center field.

A single by DH Jesus Montero and a hit by pitch of 1B David Winfree loaded the bases for C Rene Rivera, who, with a line drive single to left, not only extended his hitting streak to a season-best eight games, but gave Scranton/Wilkes-Barre the 2-0 edge.

Indianapolis then struck back with two quick runs of its own in the top of the second inning when 3B Pedro Alvarez and 1B Jeff Clement hit back-to-back home runs to tie the contest at 2-2. Alvarez stepped to the dish to lead off the second, and, after working the count full, blasted his 13th home run of the season to deep right to get the Indians on the scoreboard. Two pitches later, Clement launched his first home run of the season to straight-away center field to knot the score at 2-2.

The 2-2 tie was short-lived, however, as the Yankees retook the lead at 3-2 on a solo home run off the bat of their ninth-place hitter, CF Greg Golson, in the bottom of the second. After a strikeout accounted for the first out of the inning, Golson strode to the plate, and, on the seventh pitch of his at-bat, lined the third consecutive 2-2 offering to deep to left field to give Scranton/Wilkes-Barre the decisive 3-2 advantage.

Indians' starter Brian Burres (5.2 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 8 SO) struck out a season-high eight batters over 5.2 innings of work, but was strapped with the tough luck loss and his first Triple-A defeat of the season. Relievers Anthony Claggett (1.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 SO) and Justin Thomas (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 SO) turned in 2.1 scoreless innings of relief out of the Tribe bullpen.

In a game that featured 26 total strikeouts and only 12 combined hits, Montero (3-for-4, 1 R, 1 2B) was the only batter for either side to record multiple hits, as the Yankees' designated hitter tallied two singles and a double on the evening. Alvarez (1-for-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI) and Clement (1-for-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI) accounted for two of the Tribe's three hits in the game and each drove in a run for the Indians.

Indianapolis continues its four-game set with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday, June 13 at 5:05 p.m. RHP Charlie Morton is expected to get the call for the Indians, while RHP Tim Redding is the probable starter for the Yankees.

The contest will be carried by WXLW-950 AM and www.IndyIndians.com with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley on the call. The pre-game show begins at 4:45 p.m.
